HELP: Artifact Tool

placement

ERP-Tool window

  • The top panel in green: name and size of loaded data set.
  • In the second panel in blue: select the channels you want to view. Note that the trial browser allows you to view multiple channels at the same time, while the ERP assessment can only view one channel at a time.
  • In the “onset” field: for ERP analysis only, set the Baseline time before each event, i.e. the number of pre-event samples you defined in the Event Cutter tool.

Trial level analysis

This is used to inspect and correct data sets of on the level of single trials. It allows you to:

  • Go scroll all single trials of either the raw or baseline corrected data
  • Apply baseline correction, for ERP analysis only

For these functions you need to load 3D data and the dimensions should represent the following:

  • Row = samples
  • Column = channels
  • 3rd = trials

Browse trials for artifact rejection

For ERP and Power analysis

Load the appropriate file. In case of ERP analysis, the baseline corrected file and click “browse trials”. A new window will pop up (the trial browser) that plots the EEG signal per trial, for the channels you selected. If you have set the "onset" then a vertical line indicates the moment of stimulus onset.

  • Now inspect all your individual ERPs.
  • Decide what you consider as a faulty signal.
  • Identify and write down all faulty ERP or power analysis trial numbers.

Finalizing trail Browsing

Before analyzing anything else, remove the faulty trials from your experiment. Use the tool: Array_Manipulator to do so
